>>2231383I don't think there's a best, but there are plenty of breeds that are great trail homies. I'm partial to athletic hounds (coonhound, red bone, etc). Great noses and a coat that's bred to handle thick brush and water. Good discipline/bond is a must though, their nose will get them into all sorts of trouble.
