I'm planning to hike the entire Appalachian trail alone this year. I am all for guns, I own a few, and enjoy using them. I'm ex military, and my job involved them on a day to day. So I'm used to always having one around. But from the research I've done reading about all the different laws: along the trail, the many private properties, rules for every town, and shop. Has made me decide that I'm going to be leaving the weight of a gun at home. It will be replaced with a nice Ka Bar knife, and a large can of bear spray. Most things I can get to piss off with the spray, and the Knife will be for going out like a man in close quarters combat. Don't think I will need either. The Appalachian trail is pretty populated with hikers through out the year.
