"accomplishing" - You will learn a lot about yourself. Both good and bad.
"IF" you can sleep well in a hammock it is much much better than tenting or shelter hopping. I could not sleep in mine (bought a $400 blackbird...anyone want it?) Had to switch to tent after one month...sleep deprivation. (Really messes with your head btw)
Tents are nice because you can sit up ...play cards... etc. But nothing beats a hammock for:
1) Staying off the wet (mud) ground
2) Getting in and out when your legs are sore
3) Choosing your own spot to sleep ...even on sloped ground. (this rules)
You will need insulation under you. My Blackbird had a slot I could slide some Walmart CCF foam in. You need it for freezing temps. Just enough to go under your chest.
