Yes we're removing water so it's safe to add water.
We're killing bacteria.
That's it.
I'm pointing this out because we're going to do something different from what the internet says.
Normally this is done with salt.
And that's fine.
But on a snake skin "they" want you to tack it to a board, flesh side up and cover in salt.
The problem with that is it will shrink and the hide will develop a "memory".

If it's just a cow hide it doesn't matter.
But snake hides have a pattern and it's now forever distorted.
So.
How to combat that?
