>>1103695Karwendeldude here, late season has it's own challenges. I personally don't like the risk involved with snow. My secret is going the wrong way. Venice to Munich if you want to walk the Traumpfad, or Thale to Osterode if you want the Hexensteig.
You pass people quickly and never see them again, which i prefer.
My largest problem was water, TBQH. I bought a light DD tarp, had a Thermarest Prolite+, a 50l Berghaus pack and a cheap 2 season sleeping bag. I also bought an ultralight bivvy bag from Cumulus. As for cooking, a 750ml Esbit titanium pot, a Trangia burner and a selfmade stand and windscreen.
Shoes where a pair of Teva Kimtah Mid with Event membrane (which sucks, like all membranes).
I brought a Euroschirm umbrella and can only recommend it. Sucks to be cought in the hood of my poncho.
I took my time, finished in 32 days. Worst part was Venice to maybe Belluno, the heat was deadly!
Best part was Karwendel for me, then southern Germanys soft, mild and green hills.
