Having read a few survival books this book is by far the best. Yes, its tailored for Aus but it tells you on a practical level all the basics for actual survival. No over the top BS, just what you need to do to survive.
I also did his advanced survival course in the Australian Pilbara desert region. 10 days in the bush and all we were allowed to take were 2 water containers, a knife, snake bandages, a thermal blanket, a survival kit and the clothes on our back. We had to find all our own water and basically didn't eat for 6 days. On top of that we; walked over 100kms through gorges and desert plains, rarely slept, learnt a shitload of survival techniques and how to procure water/bushtucker all in 35 C temps. It was a challenging but amazing experience.
If your keen to learn about survival its best to actually practice the techniques needed to keep you alive. Reading a book helps but nothing beats experience.
