I mean, I get its more rustic and lasts longer than a lighter, but its not like you can find one easily if you're lost or it gets misplaced.
For prepping sake, why not bring 3 lighters, maybe even one or two that are storm proof?
How fucked do you really have to be that a few lighters arent enough to last you in a survival situation?
If you think about it, only a truly cataclysmic event would put you in a situation where the longevity of a firesteel would trump the ease of use of lighters. And at that point, you're probably more concerned with the lack of other essential supplies, which you may not be taking account of unless you're a dedicated doomsday prepper.
Im seriously starting to question why I bother trying to use one beyond larping.
