I just slept in the Catskills in ny in january during a snow and freezing rain storm.I have one of the 3 season hennesy
hammocks. It was -5F the night i was there.Slept high altitudes, worked great. You can pitch the rainfly so it reflects body heat.Throw an mylar blanket inbetween.I slept with a -25F sleeping bag and mylar blanket inside the bag with foot warmers inbetween me and the mylar. Was 80F inside my sleeping bag all night long.
9 years since i've slept in a tent, usually use a military A-frame debris shelter. Would definitely recommend one.Once you get off the ground you don't want to go back to a tent.
