I can make the garden look like it's abundant at the cost of a massive water bill but once that sun comes in there is no fighting it. Blossoms get scorched, plants are forced to bolt, etc. It's why I require SIPs until a shade canopy is established. I might be able to pull it off with sunchokes or sunflowers at an annual level which is worth a shot.
