If you need a saw you'd probably rather have a folding one and if you don't need a saw why bring one, but for some things these are really convenient. I leave one in my truck.
Fun tip, you can tie some light fishing line to a rock, throw it over a branch way out of reach, use the fishing line to pull up some cord that won't stretch with the saw in the middle and you can bring down branches from pretty much any height
