>>1310362>citrus fruits readily germinateKek, my lemons took 2 months to sprout back in 2015, and only one seed out of 6 sprouted at all but turned out to be twins, despite being at a constant ~35°C.
In comparison, all my other stuff like melons, tomatoes, peppers, figs, parsley and whatnot always sprouts within a week when exposed to the same conditions, and usually with a >90% germination rate. I guess only palm seeds are even harder to get going than citrus (I've heard them taking up to 6 months but haven't tried myself, as growth in the first 3 or so years of any palm is extremely slow, make that 10-15 for Jubaea)
But now, after 3 years, my lemon twins are growing nicely. Still not expecting any flowers for the next 5-10 years
I think I'm done training them to a "Hochstamm" now (whatever that translates to in English, basically means I want them in tree form not their natural shrub form, so low side shoots are constantly removed)
To give perspective of their current height, the "crown onset" (where I let it branch) is about 1 metre above soil level
