how long is your hike OP? the more you bring the more amateurish you seem.
for most day trips(im assuming 2-4 hours of hiking in moderate conditions) bring water and maybe a clif bar or some nut/raisin mix. this depends on your physical condition though, the more out of shape you are the more nutrients youll need. so if youre a fat lazy fuck eat a nice meal before you go.
wear weather appropriate shit, you dont need first aid kits lighters and flashlights for an afternoon hike for fucks sakes.
even when i go on weeklong trips i only bring a small ziplock with a few bandaids and a tube of polysporing with a few alcohol swabs.
