>I like to test out different equipment and configurations all on the same trip.I brought it along primarily to see how much I could use it instead of my knife and axe for firemaking tasks, but I still brought the axe just in case it was too much of a pain in the ass to use the machete.
I also brought it in the off chance I couldn't work my way through a particular patch of thick brush I planned to go through (took off my pack and I was fine without cutting anything, wouldn't have made it through easily with the pack). The closest thick patch to this picture started probably about a mile straight up the hill.
>>2042555Nice trips. My girlfriend bought me the shillelagh and the patch references a show we watch together. Also, it was another anon who called you weak. Typically you should carry as little as you can get away with, but you should be capable of carrying a buddy for a good distance--if that pack looks too heavy for you, you might want to make a habit of running up some stairs with a friend on your back.
>>2044074I'm pale and hate the sun despite working in it all day. I do have an affinity for machetes due to Filipino Martial Arts so I guess you can blame the darkies for that.
