>>2149606Well, it's far easier to sacrifice campfires that you either never have or rarely have than it is to sacrifice the electricity and HVAC you use every day. Even if sacrificing the campfire is a purely symbolic gesture and sacrificing the HVAC would make an actual difference.
Fear of loss is the most powerful human motivator, and it's always easier to pretend to change than it is to actually change. So they would love to ban campfires if that means we can say we "did something" and therefore not do anything else.
