My favorite sausage based hiking meal:
1 cup minute rice
3 oz (or however much) chorizo, chopped into bits
1 tbsp tomato powder
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
1 bouillon cube (veg works well, feel free to experiment)
>at homeKeep the sausage, rice, and seasoning separate. I wrap the seasoning into a square of plastic wrap, then tape it closed. Haven’t had one bust open yet.
>at campAdd the seasoning to 8oz of water and stir it. Bring to a boil. Toss in the sausage and let it boil for a hot minute, just to warm it through. Toss in the rice, stir, cover, remove from heat. Wait 5 minutes and eat.
