Why is it so hard to try to empathize with your child, and understand that they are a separate human being with their own little subjective experiences, their own motivations and interests? Then I realize my parents disapprove of literally anything that I have been doing nowadays, and they do so with a fucking passion and try to manipulate me into not doing it whenever they hear about them.
And then they fucking give me shit for not keeping in touch with them / not sharing my life. Bitch, you disapprove of literally anything I care about, what is there left to share or talk about? Also, it's not like I do drugs or drink excessively of anything, we're talking about stuff like attending long-distance running/swimming events, going wild camping, snowboarding, homebrewing, etc. Pretty harmless stuff.
