Green boots is one of the corpses at extreme elevation though so it may be some time before he's retrieved. He's also a landmark- its literally "turn right at green boots". There have been many people who would have died when they were caught in a sudden snow storm if green boots had not been there to guide them.
The camps are also giant frozen piles of shit. Some of it never thaws and has been there for decades. It constantly builds up.
