>What is the maintenance of the boat like?keep the bottom painted. 1 gallon costs around $80-100. should cover the bottom of a smaller sailboat just fine with extra left over. if the boat is going to be in the water for just the summer painting the bottom once for that year is fine. if it is going to be in the water year round, the bottom will have to be cleaned and painted a second time that year. other than that if you want to be cheap about it, just replace lines and other shit when they get worn.
>How cheap can you get them?very cheap. look on craigslist then jew them down. good rule of thumb is to ask half of there asking price and go from there. get a small fiberglass tub of a boat. very low maintenance.
>Do you need a license?no. as long as your not starting up a business of sailing people around. it is highly recommended you educate yourself before going on any grand adventures. get these books for the fundamentals.
