I asked in /an/'s plant general a couple of days ago, but I guess this is a better place:
I'm trying to grow clementines from seeds. I germinated a bunch of them starting late October and planted them mid-November using some basic potting mix from the store. I've put them in front of a south-east facing window so they'd get their several hours of sun (or as much as they can get in late autumn in the UK). When it turned out the walls aren't as insulated as I hoped, I bought a generic heating mat. I'm misting them daily using still mineral water (there's fluoride in the tap water, dunno how it would affect them) until the soil is visibly moist.
I was happy that they survived the two weeks of freezing temperatures, but they seem to have "stalled" - especially compared to a small January batch (in the second picture), which already has started sprouting another set of leaves (other than when I've planted them and the fruit they've come from, it's all the same, I even reused the pot where two of the old seeds failed to grow). Is there something wrong with them? Did I fuck something up? How can I help them? Or should I leave well enough alone?
I'd also would like to stress that it's the first time I've grown anything since I germinated a bean for a project in school like 25 years ago.
