So like 2 years ago I cut the tops off some pineapple plants and stuck them in moist soil after drying the cuts out. They already had some roots between their leaves. They grew but remained fairly small. Over the winter I sorta neglect them a bit by not watering them as often as I should. They reside in a back room at the sunniest window int he house. Thus, I rarely see them. Last time I over-watered them and their pans had like 2 inches of water for a long time. That was like 4-5 weeks ago I think. Today, I went to water them and was surprised to see my 3 oldest pineapple plants have PINEAPPLES!!!!!
Made my day. =D
I have 3 with pineapples, 1 offshoot that came up and was removed from one of those pineapples and grew into a new plant, and 2 that have been cut off, put in water, grown tons of roots, but I've yet to put them in soil and it's been 3-4 months. I guess, I know now that it is worth it. Now I'll be getting a new pineapple to cut the top off once every time I happen by the grocery store.
Hopefully, I'll get that greenhouse up this year.
