This thread has me seeing the homeless life in a new light. I never saw the modern world as something in which a modern person could be both homeless and comfortable. In cities all you see are grubby, miserable people who are homeless, and sad, lonely, and depressed people who aren't. My idea of homelessness is that of furtive and aggressive people hassling people for money, for the most part. Even though I'm always open for conversation, especially if I have a couple minutes, I can always tell when someone's about to start asking for money. I spend my time making money, why would I give that time to someone who wants it for free, and who has more time than some homeless dude? I was homeless post-college for a couple months and I can see now that what I think about life is that it's defined by work. If you want to chill and live out of a bus, that's pretty cool, and even though it's not for me I see it can actually be respectable and positive.
