It works, yes, and it's easy to manage, but that's about the only thing it does better than an underquilt when bottom side insulation is concerned. Those pads are always finnicky as fuck, and especially the big Kylmit ones that you'd have a tough time fitting into a bridge hammock.
Pads definitely have their place though, and I think they are great if you plan to be doing a lot of ground camping or are getting something like a ridgerunner (pictured) where a pad definitely does work better than a GENERIC underquilt. My HG Incubator flat out does nothing in my RR, but I know a lot of guys that buy quilts built specifically for that hammock and other bridge styles and they say that it's the best quilt style they've owned / best sleep they've got.
I for sure have slept very well in my RR, but you gotta be careful with those poles under a quilt. I popped a whole clean through my Superfly my 2nd night in the thing.
