>>570054Yeah, the problem I see with the penis squid lure you have there is that the hook is exposed and can catch on weeds and shit on the bottom. With a proper texas rig you turn the hook around and have it poking into the soft plastic so that the point isn't exposed at all. When a fish hits it and you jerk to set the hook, it will get pulled all the way through the plastic lure and into the fish. Since the hook isn't exposed this makes for a very effective weedless setup, I generally use this in areas where the bottom is covered with vegetation.
I've had great luck with crawdad soft plastics down here in Texas, but we tend to have a lot of them in our waters so the fish are looking for them. As always it's best to "match the hatch" when choosing lures and pick something that resembles the fish's natural prey in your home waters.
