>>1284562So, after trying out my first baitcaster reel and some of my friends baitcaster setups, I have to say that the "threat" of backlash/birdsnest is greatly exaggerated.
>most likely baitcasters just want to think they're special and try to scare "normies"I actually had to test the limits to achieve my first birdsnest to experience it.
Having used spinning reels since I was a pre-teen to my late 20's, the most obvious difference I noticed was that I am not as accurate with a baitcaster, missing my mark from several inches to an entire foot, distance was not a problem at any point. but that is quite much it. I think I'll have that accuracy down in a week or two.
I do however love how I can affect the cast distance with my thumb as I cast, along with the rod motion. Seems like a baitcaster has become my favourite reel type after just two days of use. And is clearly a step up from the gear I used to have.
If there are any other positive sides to using a baitcaster, I havent noticed them yet.
I rate baitcasters 9/10. despite what people say, they're simple, instinctive to use and really good at what they do. But with experience and time, you can achieve same results with a spinner for half the price and little more inconvenience.
