Like I said, my main concern was thinking this stove could stay on for hours without harming the plastic unit. Believe it or not, because of the fan and the placement of the unit, it hardly gets much of the heat at all. I left my hand on top of it for a while and never felt uncomfortable. It's a very good design for directing heat.
