>>493891I should elaborate on that now that i'm not on mobile. White Lightning is a wax based lube dissolved in mineral spirits or something similar so the carrier penetrates and evaporates but the wax it leaves behind doesn't turn into greasy grinding paste like oil does so your chain stays clean on dusty trails and dirt roads. It's good for other stuff too where you want a clean lubricant, like folding knives.
Boeshield T9 was apparently developed by Boeing as a rustproofer, I've seen it sold for treating woodworking blades but it also makes a pretty good lubricant. Stays on a lot better when it's wet than WL but seems to collect a bit more dirt.
Beeswax is good as a thread lubricant (and a mild thread locker according to Grant Petersen from Rivendell, but I can't vouch for that myself one way or the other). I usually just use white grease though because it's more handy in the workshop.
It being early spring and a terrible time for other /out/ stuff the the last thing I lubricated was the chain on my Cross-Check after a rainy ride.
