There is no way to prevent it from melting if it’s significantly over room temp outside, but that’s relatively rare here fortunately.
Because I was carrying cheeses and butter I wanted to be extra sure and packed it all into this and into the middle of everything and I was very careful to only ever open it very quickly and close it and put it in a shade and aganst the cool ground for example.
Storing suff in water also works if you’re stationary and you can always entertain the idea that you stop to cool your cold stuff by the river whenever you stop to cool your feet.
