>>1820719I've handheld trolled 3 lines for walleye and pike with my dad and brother when I was a kid, it's awful. I'm only gonna be running 2 lines with the dipsies slanted out a bit, maybe one out the back if I'm feeling cocky. Shouldn't be much of an issue. But if those temps crack 78 or lower I'm switching to muskellunge.
>>1820729>apps/charts for lure depth etcThat's one thing I never really mastered when handheld trolling. I eventually want some good rods and reels with line counters, but trolling is a science rather than a hobby, and it really requires a significant investment of both time and money to be able to flawlessly crank 6 or 7 rods behind a boat and key in on fish 40-200 feet down like the walleye and salmon/trout guys on the great lakes do. I used to scoff at them because it looked so easy, but honestly it takes a lot more skill and planning as opposed to just casting. I absolutely love watching fish follow my bait in and chomp it by the boat, or feel them hit after a couple cranks on a cast, but I'm just trying to expand my fishing knowledge as far and wide as possible. This is for sure a start, and cutting my teeth on 2 shitty rods with dipsies is a sure way to learn what not to do quick.
