https://youtu.be/dtUoYjfjcS4I've saved so many fishes lives (smallmouth bass especially) by this method. It's easy and as long as your careful about initially putting the tool in it's way better. I was fishing with a big pike spinnerbait and hooked this bass, the hooks were all in the gills. If I hadn't watched this video I for sure would have had to either leave a huge 12 dollar spinnerbait in the fishes gills that probably would have ended up killing it, or tear his gills up bad getting it out. With the bottom entry method I got the hook out in a second, and aside from the blood he had when I netted him, was free. The whole net, unhook, grip-and-grin, and release took about 15-20 seconds. He swam off just like a smallie that was lip hooked would.
