My tallest shaded potato plants are up to 4'4". One clump of them was leaning far over the fence so I carefully pushed them back into the pen. Usually they'd be dying off by now. I think the difference this year is I gave up on pointlessly hilling determinates and just mulched instead. I think the extra dirt kept water from reaching the roots.
