I did the math before posting that a dehydrator would “soon” pay for itself and yes it figures out to 222 meals but it can also be figured another way.
I can make a 12 serving pot of Chili Mac for $4.50 using Walmart store brand ingredients (Great Value). If I run this thru my dehydrator, I end up with the equivalent of 5 Mtn House meals ($45 value) for 1/2 the cost of one meal. Essentially, I’ve made a “profit” of $40.50 (plus the cost of electricity and baggies). If I do this only once a week, my machine will have “paid” for itself in less than a year and I still have the machine to continue making more. Compare that to purchasing 222 Mtn House meals, and after eating them, having nothing.
