Maybe an east coaster or even a fellow west coaster can help me, I'm trying to find a rod similar to pic related, I've underlined whats more important for me. I'm gonna be using it to cast 5/8 oz jerk baits and the occasional 1 oz to 1 1/2 oz metal jig in the surf.
I have an 8'6" salmon steelhead rod right now but I want something longer to get a little more edge in my casts, a lot of times I feel like an extra 10-20 yards in it will help me get the lure exactly where I want it as opposed to just short or barely in the zone. I tend to fish mostly 15 pound when some of the fishing can be done with as low as 8 pound just because you can get snag with the occasional kelp stringer which can get heavy and can snap lighter lines, and also because the 8-15lb plus bat ray and shark bycatch can get heavy at times where I fish.
Only reason I don't buy the rod in pic related is cause its 250 bucks plus tax and shipping and I'm trying to find cheaper alternatives.
