They're not protected by FCW and that river is full of them and if you think what I did to them is unethical well I hope you never fish in many places I've fished at in Florida, because if if you the way I treat the fish is cruel you should see what others do..
By the way go on fish brain some time and see these people who are going out targeting Snook when it's out of season. Honestly doesn't matter if you don't plan to keep them you shouldn't fish for some thing not in season. Hell some of them people are even keeping under sized fish.
When it came to the leaving the hook behind sadly their isn't much you can do when a Shark has swallowed your hook FCW highly recommend that you leave the hook in and release the Shark back into water as soon as possible.I tried I was unable to the time frame for that Shark to die from the heat and the fact he was losing water from his gulls the leader had to be cut. I fish with tackle that supposed to rust out within 1-2 weeks of being exposed to saltwater which is why the hook was left behind.
However these Sharks hang around so I'm likely to catch it again and have another chance at hook removal
