First year running a wood stove here. If I push the glue all the way in I get soot build up on the window but pretty decent heat with a stove temp about 5-600 according to the little magnet thermometer. If I crack it open literally an 1/8th of an inch I get stove temps above 700. As of now I alternate between full closed and partly open until I refill. The stove is only a couple years old and one of those new EPA high efficiency ones. Am I doing something wrong or is this just the way she goes?
