So how sure are you about the birds? I'm in SoCal (very far away from England) so I hope you're wrong about the birds)... theres lots of 'singing' birds here and the ones that have the babies every year (I think they are finches) are kind of cool because they wake me up when I'm at my folks' place when I sleep past noon and I love hearing the babies "beep beep beep" when they are begging their mama for food. One fell out of the nest and I had to bury the body (I felt so bad and it disrupted my sleep schedule.. I quit drinking 6 months ago but having to bury the baby bird that fell out of the nest, the only way I could get to sleep was by drinking again. I honestly love the little birds almost like they are my own.
As far as saving money, I learned this almost on a whim.. I wanted to lose weight (by not eating) and to save money but I learned by working the area, I get a 'free workout' and also tend to the garden as well as save money. My 'mad skillz' will be coming in grad school
and I'm going to have to bring a cactus to live with me! I do plan on using CL to sell offshoot plants, berry splittings/canes, and seeds in the future!
Also, above all and what is the most valuable, I 'relearned' a lifetime worth of astrophysics material (and chemistry) simply by gardening which is priceless by anyone's standards!
