For years there didn't really exist any mid tier camping gear to the extent that it does now. It was either ultra expensive heavy duty gear, or literal pieces of garbage you could set fire to as you left a festival. And I think the surviving brands from 15-20 years ago are still hyped up, because the gear still holds up. There is nothing wrong with it, it's impressively good. It's just extremely heavy. I fell in to the tried and tested trap myself when I started hiking and camping all those years ago. But it's all gone now that I have better alternatives.
