Yeah I thought as much about the tent. I have a basic foam sleeping pad with a cheap inflatable one and if it gets too cold I can grab some conifer branches under those.
And pic is not Sierra Nevadas, it is Ala Archa national park in Kyrgyzstan, most beautiful spot I ever camped at but for this winter I would be doing it in Finland or maybe Russia if the border opens. Pic related was close by late last winter so this is more how it would look.
