However, it's important to keep in mind that the mushrooms we harvest are just the fruiting body of a much larger fungal structure. And it can take years or even sometimes decades depending on the species for one to reach the maturity to fruit. So think of spreading spores like planting tree seeds. It's well worth putting those apple seeds in the ground, but it'll be some time before you get apples.

The really large oyster on the right side of this pic got incorporated in my lunch, fried whole it went on top of a big burger of wild venison, topped with our own tomatoes, home made relish and mustard, a side of home made sourkraut and roasted brussels sprouts. The best part, this feast cost me about a dollar. Foraging and friends are a wonderful combination.
