What they did, however, was leave their car at Whitney Portal, and paid a driver to take them up to Yosemite ($200 which I think is crazy). I would be less worried about my car getting stolen or vandalized, and more worried about having it clean, and food free so bears don't break in. Most hikers/outdoors type people are really chill and wouldn't steal shit... bears on the other hand are fucking assholes lol.
