>Duck hunting in the southern Louisiana delta with some buddies from childhood in my 5 hp boat, about a 20 minute boat ride to my camp>dads dropped us off, and went to their spot, we set out our decoys and settle in>slow morning, mostly talking stupid shit with my buddies>kill a couple ducks, buddy goes out to get them, turns around to come back and hear him say "oh fuck fuck fuck fuck" >think it's an animal or a dude with a gun, but nope, far worse, a super thick line of fog about half a mile out>heart fucking drops like gary busey from his mother's arms>immediately panic and start freaking out, fogs in the delta can last for days, and this one was super fucking thick>no phones and no reception due to it being in 2005>honestly if you weren't from around there you would've thought i was joking by how scared i was, but from all the stories i've heard about the fog, i knew how serious it was>also no GPS or anything like that because we knew the system well enough to not need it that day>so we start yelling at him to run and he high tails it back dropping the ducks>but treading through waste deep water is too slow, by the time he got to the boat the fog was already here>so we decide to just stay put because at least our dads knew where we were>The fog got THICK, like I couldn't see my buddy on the other side of the boat thick, extremely unpleasant and scary>luckily one of us was a fatass and brought a box of granola a box of cereal and milk, and 4-5 cokes and 4-5 waters to split between the 4 of us(we usually would be there for a while)>so a couple hours go by and still no signs of the fog letting up or help>we tried firing some shots in the air to see if anyone could reach us>nope>none of that was scary, mainly us shooting the shit and reading the magazines we brought with flashlights>literally had to be a couple inches to even see it with a flashlightcont.
