Black bear, deer, turkey. It's dropped them.
However as a defensive weapon, doesn't really do the trick. More of an ambush weapon. Perfect for hunting.
For self defense, a spear will be my best guess. One with the spikes on the side so anything that runs at you and gets impaled, it can't climb down the shaft and get to you.
