Me and my friends decided to try and and summit Snowdon in Wales via Crib Goch. The day we went was one of the wettest and windiest days of the year thus far. Climbing up to Crib Goch itself was already incredibly dangerous... We were basically climbing up a few hundred metres of waterfall because of how rainy it was. In fact, at one point my friend had to climb up what was essentially an inverted waterfall because we got separated
Anyway, once we're at the top of Crib Goch we have to make our way along a few hundred metres of a knife ridge. The winds at this point were a constant 60-70mph with gusts of up to 80-90mph. So we basically are crawling on hands and knees because if we stood up we would of been pulled off the ridge too our deaths. We get most of the way along but cannot get past this specific crag because it would of been suicide to attempt it.
So in the end we decide to try and climb down the side of this ridge which is about at dangerous as that sounds. Half of it was a scree slope which led to large rocks falling and almost crushing the person below's head. At one point my mate was mere inches from having a cabbage sized rock smash into the back of his.
We all survived, although soaking wet and quite bruised and battered, and decided it would probably be better to reattempt on a sunnier day.
Oh, I forgot to add... Most of us were carrying 60-80L packs with about 15-30kg in each. Just because...
