Bitcoin is the most stable of the bunch and is practically a brand name by itself so even though the tech is old it still will stick around for years by word of mouth. Etherium will give higher gains and is the second most stable, but that might change in a few years with many of its more nimble competitors. I will warn you that Bitcoin only works as a hedge with a strong black market and a partial country collapse (ala Venezuela) instead of a full on collapse of the whole western world.
