Scariest:
>hiking in Alabama
>see feral hogs for the first time
>they’re off to the right, at the bottom of a sheer cliff
>250ft left of them is the trail, with a creek immediately to the left
>not sure what to do
>heard they attack without provocation
>decide to keep going
>giant pig the size of a Kia springs from the bushes in the left
>20ft in front of me
>I felt the damn ground shake
>it runs toward the others, squealing as if I were trying to murder it
>they all run further up the trail
>ran into the same sounder 3 or 4 times because they’re between a cliff and the creek
It was pretty scary, as I had never seen them and suddenly one just pounces from the bushes, very loudly, and very close. That was decades ago, and I’ve had probably a dozens of encounters since. They always just run away, often very loudly.
Coolest:
>feral horses in Louisiana
>been to the same place a few dozen times
>only saw them one (1) time
>past up an ok camping spot and kept hiking for a bit, looking for something better
>nothing better, so turned back the way i came
>one horsies!
>just sat there for a bit
>spooked easily and bolted when I got too close
Pic related unless I can’t find it, then just something random
