Fact is that one of the thing you need is carbs, if your body doesn't have carbs when you're being physically active you'll start to break down muscles instead of fat for energy. You can't eat the same shit you do on a regular weekday when you're out in the woods.
So I'd suggest to pause your diet and eat what you need for the wild and then when you get back to city life resume your city life diet.
Shit like MREs are designed for what you need to sustain your body in the wild. So it's going to be counter intuitive from what you normally consider when eating. Carbs, sugar, lots of salt. You need it. In the army we always force ourselves to eat a whole pack of salt with the meals because we need the sodium to store water. It's gross but it's just how it works.
