To those in this thread that really are determined to get a van to live in or just go explore places while being closer to nature don't pay attention to the naysayers. Here's my story: started office working at 17 and because I am very frugal I saved up a good chunk of change and by the time I was 21 I finished my apprenticeship and degree and moved back to my home country from uk. Bought a school minibus in Jan 2021 with 32k miles for £2750 (3.6k$) done the maintenance on it myself self taught from youtube. Mechanic neighbour taught me how to do the cam belt.
Rest of 21 i did nothing on the van and just took a year to enjoy youth
22 i roller painted the whole van myself for 250$ and took care of all the surface rust. Then I made a basic setup I will describe below:
