>>131330None taken. Like the largemouth I've been catching they're aren't really skinny but they're most definitely not fat. Overall length is fair for the area when it's expected you'll mostly catch a mess of 8 to 12 inchers in any of the smaller local lakes and ponds. They certainly get better than what we've been catching, especially out in Mattawoman and parts of the Potomac, but I don't think we get anything nearly as big as what the south-eastern states pull in. At least not as frequently.
Here's another shot of the same fish and a bad shoop of what we typically use:
- 1/16 or 1/8 ounce darter jig heads
- Jig Spinners with hammered Carolina blades (usually copper or gold)
- Gary Yamamoto 5" Grubs (but it seems like the stores only carry his Kreature Baits and Senkos anymore so we've also been buying Gulp)
