>>2132736You might need to stretch your budget a little bit to $100, get something better than absolute bargain-basement gear. My suggestion is the Ugly Stik GX2 combo in whatever length/weight you want, they're usually $50. The rod is basically unbreakable and if the reels fall apart after a year or two, spend $30 on a replacement Shimano.
I just picked up pic related (Shakespeare Wild Series Panfish combo) for $50 out the door as a loaner rod, haven't had it out yet but liked the build and feel in the store.
