If you want to see an actual full grain look at a lot of bison leather. Including a pic by Russell moccasin. It lacks uniformity.
>sizing of m77I find Alfa was true to size. The Estonian ones were made for two socks so size down on these ones. The leather stretched more on these too so add a false tongue or kitties or bulk up inside with the second sock from last post, an insole, two socks, etc, or just size down. As a shell boot you foot will be closer to the sole which is not a heat/cold retardant material like Eva is or wool is so when it is cold outside the cold will radiate to the sole and radiate to you unless you have some insulation.
M77 isn't some next level boot but it covers a lot of ground when a lot of modern boots overdo it with weight or 'technology'.
Also since the sole is polyurethane as the majority of modern hiking boots use in midsole andor outsole it will degrade over time with lack of use, so make sure you use them once a month or more including summer as lawn mowing boots or else you will likely see the sole crumble next winter. Process is called hydrolysis.
Almost all your meindls lowas hanwags and other fancy hiking boot companies use this.
Eva is another material used in boots like Salomon. Also used more in tennis shoes. It's a weaker foam that compresses faster than PU or polyurethane but is more heat and cold retardant. Same material crocs made of to give example of the properties.
