Some issues, in no particular order:
>forest fires/controlled burns
I think someone mentioned FS land. The purpose of that land is often lumber production. It’s often burned to promote growth and keep the forest manageable, but prescribed burns are very dependent on the weather. Forest fires can occur as well.
>human waste, garbage
A latrine will be necessary, but it has to be pretty far from camp. So a single line on one tree won’t be enough. You’d likely run out of space to hang food as well, unless you’re keeping it in your car.
>flooding
Imagine doing all of this only to find out that the area you chose is a shin deep flood plain every time it rains.
>no bail out
Better pray to god that phone works! Generally when people go hiking, they leave an itinerary with someone. If that person doesn’t hear back, they contact help. You could do the same.
